Tala Game Reserve, inland of Durban

A mere 45 mins north and inland of Umkomaas is a delightful game reserve which offers an abundance of wildlife including Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffe and Zebras to name a few! Their website focuses more on conferences and weddings but be assured that you can tour the reserve in your own car (a main road around the reserve means no 4x4 is necessary) or choose the guided option.

From Durban: (N3 to Pietermaritzburg)

• Take Camperdown /Umbumbulu rd off-ramp
• Turn left to Umbumbulu Rd
• T-junction left to Umbumbulu Rd
• Keep left for 13km to Umbumbulu (R603)
• Cross the Mlazi River (3km straight)
• Take second turn left to Tala (Eston brick)
• Turn left into Tala; follow signs to reception

From Pietermaritzburg: (N3 to Durban)

• Take Umbumbulu Road /Richmond off-ramp
• Keep left towards Umbumbulu
• Travel for 13km towards Umbumbulu (R603)
• Cross over the Mlazi River
• Take second turn left to Tala (Eston brick)
• Turn left into Tala; follow signs to reception
